The Hope Summer Games

On saturday the 19th of august, at 20.00 in the evening, this sportive event will take place near the friendly dwarven town of Thelsamar. Contestants can take part in three separate games:

Traditional Dwarven Race

A popular pastime with dwarven youth is a race along the entirety of Loch Modan. Unfortunately, some parts of the lake's surroundings have become infested with ogres; also, when asked, dwarven elders scoffed and assured us that 'No pansy elves and humans would ever last through an ENTIRE trip around the lake'. Taking this advice to heart, we have shortened the track! Racers will run all the way from Thelsamar to the Hunting Lodge. On their way they will pass water and rock, mud and sand, but a nice cool drink will be their prize!

Wild Seal Chase

Loch Modan is shrouded in many mysteries. Tourists and researchers alike come from far to see the cold water and shiver with joyful terror when they are told delightful stories of the lake's secrets by the locals. One of these myths tells about a giant sea-creature that lurks in the murky depths. "Mossie", as this creature is affectionally called, is supposedly a huge reptilian creature that is larger than many a sea-faring ship! In honor of this grand beast, we will organize a Wild Seal Chase. Contestants will gather along the lake's coast, and at the signal they will dive in the water and seek out the Hope who swims around and hides somewhere in the lake! The hope will give out a token to the persons who find him. First person to return to the coast with said token wins!

The Greater Picture

What better symbolizes the difficult path all races must follow to finally unite, than a steep mountain-climb? When you stand at the bottom of the mountain, all you see is rock... but as you continue up you will see an increasingly larger view of the world! Contestants will gather at the edge of the lake, where they will be pointed in the direction of one of the many hills of Thelsamar. Whoever braves the treacherous slopes fastest, wins this race! There is one complication: to honor yet another ancient dwarven tradition, contestants will have to drink several pints of ale before they can start climbing!

When and where?
Saturday the 19th of August, 20.00. We will gather outside the Thelsamar inn (and be sure to buy some drinks inside from the hardworking people!) initially, but the three games will take place around Loch Modan.

Who?
Dwarves and humans, gnomes and elves all can partake. regardless of profession or age. A good health is required, though. While trained physicians will be standing by, and druids will be available to monitor the lake for drowning people, it is adviced that you do not take an active part in the games unless you are in moderate shape at least.
